This is Why I Fostered 30 Kids
Inspirational Lynn, who is the runner-up in Fabulous’ Mum Of The Year: Foster Mum competition, said: “It was a bit like a pregnancy. I made that phone call and within nine months there was a newborn baby in my arms.”
She was nominated by proud daughter Cheryl Hallam, who told us: “At the age of 63, my mum currently has two sibling babies in her care, both under the age of two.
“Despite the undoubtedly challenging situation, she agreed without hesitation to foster both babies at the risk of them being separated and this is her through and through.”
Quite a few people I met on the check-outs each week were foster parents and the more I got talking to them, the more inspiration they gave me to sign up.
I’d seen what a difference other foster parents I knew had made to children’s lives and I wanted to do the same.
So I made the phone call, signed up, received the training, and five days after being approved I got a call and took in a newborn baby girl.
It was quite daunting at first but I soon got into the swing of things and now – ten years on and 30 kids later – I still love every single day of my job…
